The area has great opportunities for extra recreation & sightseeing. To the south, Mount Shasta, Castle Crags & Lake Shasta, and to the north, Ashland (Shakespeare Festival, Feb-Nov). The National Forest provides hiking, climbing, biking and fishing. Dunsmuir & Yreka have long histories with the steam train and have train rides and museums.

Weed Golf Club, 27730 Edgewood Road. Links-style layout, nine holes. Established in 1927 by Long Bell Lumber Company.
The Lake Shastina Golf Resort, located 7 miles from I-5 at 5925 Country Club Drive, 27 holes, PGA professional golf shop, lodging, swimming pool, tennis courts and clubhouse.
