Snake River Rafting Trips

Raft North America's Deepest River Canyon. Take a 4-Day Journey through Hells Cayon on the Snake River

About Rafting Hells Canyon

As the deepest river canyon in North America (yes, even deeper then the Grand Canyon!) and bordering the states of Idaho and Oregon the whitewater experience through Hells Canyon is truly unmatched. With mountain tops towering nearly 8,000 ft over the river our camp and raft trips offer an incredible, unique and off-the-grid getaway for groups, families and friends.

In addition to it being a fishing hot spot for bass, trout, sturgeon, and steelhead, the area offers diverse wildlife, including bighorn sheep, bald eagles, whooping cranes, and even the occasional grizzly bear. (We see bighorn sheep on nearly every trip!) The landscape features desert like red rocks that tower above you as you float on the clear blue waters. Throughout the rafting trip we stop at old sheep herd ranches and step into their green oasis, who’s pastures were created by the water run off of the mountains above. A wildly beautiful juxtaposition of the landscape around.

River running through a deep canyon with mountains on both sides. River is lines with colorful trees while the mountains are mostly rock and brush.

SNAKE RIVER FAQ

Where is the Snake River located?

The Snake River flows through several states in the United States, including Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. It journeys through diverse landscapes, from rugged canyons to expansive valleys.

Our whitewater trips raft through Hells Canyon which is located on the border of Oregon and Idaho – our meet up point is about 3 hours northwest of Boise.

Hells Canyon is North America’s deepest river gorge, dropping nearly 8,000 feet from the Seven Devils Mountains to the Snake River. This vertical descent surpasses the depth of the Grand Canyon and creates a unique environment for side hikes to Suicide Point and sightings of bighorn sheep and bald eagles. The Wild and Scenic section of the river supports diverse fishing for sturgeon and steelhead, while specialized itineraries like the Flying Fish restaurant partnership and women’s wellness retreats distinguish the experience from standard rafting trips.

The rapids on the Snake River are rated Class II-III and suitable for first-timers, ages 7+ and non-swimmers.
