TRIP OVERVIEW

Pigeon Point is one of the most popular half-day whitewater rafting trips on the Trinity River, offering an exciting yet approachable Class III adventure. This section is perfect for families, beginners, and those looking for a fun and scenic introduction to whitewater rafting. The trip features a mix of splashy waves, bouncy rapids, and calm stretches where paddlers can take in the stunning surroundings of the Trinity Alps Wilderness.

Rafters will tackle several exciting Class III rapids, including Hell Hole and Sailor Bar, which provide just the right amount of excitiment without being overwhelming. The Trinity River’s clear water and lush forested canyons make for a picturesque journey, and the steady current ensures plenty of action throughout the trip. Thanks to controlled releases from Trinity Dam, water levels remain consistent, allowing for reliable rafting opportunities throughout the summer. This half-day adventure is a fantastic way to experience the beauty and excitement of the Trinity River in just a few hours.

Trip Itinerary

  • Head to the put in where pre-trip instruction is given and all participants outfitted with gear
  • At put in you will be outfitted with PFD, helmet and paddle, and a safety talk will be given before you begin floating down the Truckee River.
  • Rafting!
  • Get into the rapids including Hell Hole (Class III) – A splashy, thrilling wave train and Sailor Bar (Class III) – A big, bouncy ride!
  • Enjoy stunning canyon scenery and calmer stretches between rapids.
  • Trip finishes and you head back to the put in

While some things have changed over the years, Tributary remains a family-run small business with the same passion for the river and the mission of leading others to experience it.
