A California whitewater rafting trip is the perfect adventure for Family Reunions that will leave you with lasting memories while bonding with your loved ones. We have something for everyone, ages 4 to 80+, from mild to wild. Trips are available from half day to multi-days with all meals and camping included. With rafting trips near Sacramento, San Francisco, Gold Country, Lake Tahoe and Yosemite a rafting trip can be combined with many other activities for your family vacation adventure.
Choosing the right Family rafting trip
The Lower Middle Fork American, South Fork American, Lower Klamath, and Truckee River are our most popular rafting trips for families with kids, but a wide range of Rivers is available for all ages (from 4 yrs) and ability levels. For help choosing the right rafting trip for your group please refer to our Rafting with Children page; we recommend to gauge your group according to the youngest participant, and those with the least amount of confidence or swimming abilities (non-swimmers welcome on class 2-3 river trips) to pick the right trip for your group. Also err on the side of caution – we want everyone to have a positive experience, as this may be the childrens first introduction to whitewater rafting, and as with most youth groups the ratio of adult paddlers to youth paddlers is typically low.
For multi-day trips with children 17 and under, we recommend trying one of our Family Special Trips, where youths raft at discounts from 20-50% (one special discount with each full paying adult). You might also look at Rafting with Children for guidelines on trips suitable for the different age groups.
If the Family Special dates do not work for you, the same trips are available on other dates. We also offer shorter trips on many of the rivers suitable for families, and recommend weekdays whenever possible for best prices. Youths 17 and under receive a 10% discount on regular trips, plus some group discounts.
Pricing & Discounts:
Discounts of 5-25% for scout and other youth groups are available. The largest discounts apply during the off season months of April, May and September. Pricing will depend on the trip, time of year and number of participants. We will be glad to give you a quote on a particular trip and date and also see discounts on our cost page.
See our group discounts on our price page. We have a special system for groups to make the whole payment thing easier for the organizer. We understand that this can be a big head ache with groups especially if the participants are widely scattered. This does limit the discount available, but definitely saves some stress and lets us take care of more of the work for you.
