This Trinity River rafting 2 day trip is convenient for travelers to either Shasta or the Redwoods. It is best scheduled before mid-July while flows are higher. The South American offers more rapids, and the Lower Klamath more wilderness.

On a 2 day Trinity River rafting trip we have a variety of camping options. There are vehicle accessible Shasta-Trinity National Forest campgrounds (no showers), wilderness style settings where we take all our gear in separate oar rafts, or we camp at private riverside campgrounds, with grassy, shady river side sites.

On Day 1 we usually raft a Class 2-2+ run from French Bar to Cedar Flat and this is suitable for kids as young as 5. This starts off with a fun Class 2+ at Big French Creek and just above take-out, Don Juan rapid contains some big waves. Lunch is served on the river on one of the many beaches and we shuttle from take-out to the overnight camp. Appetizers and cold drinks are served while guides prepare a delicious dinner. You have options of fishing, hiking, playing games or simply sitting by the river and enjoying your surroundings.

On the morning of Day 2 awake to the sounds of the river and the smell of coffee brewing. Guides will prepare breakfast and gear is packed. We shuttle to Pigeon Point Campground just below the ghost town of Helena. We then tackle the Class 3 “Pigeon Point” run, which has a myriad of Class 2-3 rapids like the Slot (Z Drop”, Sailors Bar (Triple Drop) and Fish Tail. , plus the big one – Hell Hole (AKA Dynamite, Class 3+) that provides a thrill for all. We will take lunch again on the river and take out at Big Bar where clients will be provided cold beverages and you will be shuttled back to your cars.

For a Trinity River rafting 2 day trip, we can also customize it to accommodate younger or timid rafters or those with disabilities. Oar boats can be requested, and there are several different sections of Class 2 that can be substituted or added to extend the trip to 3 days. Some of these sections are on the Lower Trinity River (below Burnt Ranch Gorge) and include the beautiful Tish Tang gorge which ends just above the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation.

Tributary Whitewater Tours operates under permit issued by the Big Bar Ranger District of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and is an equal opportunity service provider.
