Fishing & Chukar Hunting on the Snake River

Fishing and Chukar Hunting – Originally brought to you by Canyon Outfitters

FISHING

Fishing activities are abundant on all Hells Canyon “Fishing” and “Chukar Hunting” trips.

The fishing in the Snake River is an anglers delight. There are several seasonal runs including Trout, bass and Steelhead. We keep the fish that guests would like to eat while on the river trip, and release the rest. Sturgeon are also inhabiting these waters and usually range from 6-8 feet long, these are catch and release fish.

We suggest purchasing an Oregon fishing license if you do not hold one already, this will ensure you can fish from the boat as well as the Oregon shores where we camp overnight. Idaho fishing licenses will allow you to fish from the boat, but only on Idaho land.

CHUKAR HUNTING

The fall brings cooler temperatures and the opportunity for Chukar Hunting to Hells Canyon – these trips are offered from mid-September into November. Hunters are dropped off on shore to walk the trails while our boats follow on river.

Your equipment is stored in water tight compartments in our 20′ drift boats with ample room for fishing as well.

CAMPING

All of the camping gear is provided and set up in advance of your arrival.  Tent, cot and pad… all you need is your pillow and sleeping bag.  Guides do all the work to set up camp and prepare lovely riverside meals.  Try out some of the lawn games or take a dip in the river to cool off.  Nothing beats sitting in your chair in the sand with your feet in the river.  We use only the highest quality gear and serve fresh and tasty meals.
