California Rafting – Easy/Beginner

These Easy and Beginner California and American River rafting trips are rated Class 2-3. At normal summer flows, this level is ideal for most rafters and even non-swimmers. Its usually not too scary for most peoples first time trip, but it’s fun and exciting and you will definitely get wet!

Class 2-3 trips are suitable for nearly everybody, including beginners, corporate groups, families (kids from 6-8 years and up),  youth groups, bachelor & bachelorette parties. This level is also exciting enough to bring some people back year after year!

However, requirements can be very different at times of high water (usually due to a large snow pack). Be sure to check with us about the expected conditions at the time you want to raft. See individual trip descriptions for further guidance.

Listed below are the trips that fall in this category. See Easiest Trips if you have kids less than 7, or you are planning a higher water spring trip with kids under 10 or non-swimmers.  See Intermediate/Adventurous First time trips If everyone swims and you are looking for more excitement.

For overnight trips with kids check out our Family Rafting Specials. On these weekday trips, a youth (under 18 years) rafts for 20-50% off with each full paying adult.
