Rafting near San Diego

Kaweah River - The Chute Rapid - Class 4

Whitewater rafting trips near San Diego are available on the Kaweah River for those with previous rafting experience, excellent swimming skills and ages 13+.

Trips are available from May thru July (sometimes longer, depends on the snowmelt). Rafting in Southern California is limited, therefore many choose to travel to the Gold Country, Lake Tahoe area, or Mt. Shasta/Redding region where there are a variety of rafting options, including the popular American River, for all levels available April-September as well as other attractions such as campgrounds, hiking trails, Gold Mining history, luxury B&B’s, restaurants and more!

The Kaweah River offers Class 4+ excitements and is just under 6 hours north/east of San Diego. The 1 day river trip is 9 miles, but you can add a night of camping and another day for a double run! The Kaweah is one of America’s steepest rivers, flowing naturally from Sequoia National Park. Trips are run May-July (depending on snowmelt). The Kaweah is not a novice run, we suggest the American River in the Gold Country for beginner and intermediate rafting trips.
